Christy Douglas, PCD(DONA), CLC
After the birth of her first child Christy began walking the path to becoming an assistant to women during pregnancy, childbirth and beyond. Having experienced the unparalleled care she received from her midwives during her pregnancy and homebirth she was sold on the model of women centered care and craved to be part of a woman’s transformation into motherhood. She trained and certified with DONA (Doulas of North America) and has been practicing as a postpartum doula since 2009.
Christy is also currently studying with Birth Arts International to obtain certification as a birth doula. She is a certified lactation counselor, teaches a class on breastfeeding at the Family Life Center in Albany, has been a WIC breastfeeding peer counselor and a co-founding member of the Capital Region Breastfeeding Leadership Alliance. She currently lives in Troy, New York in a house filled with y chromosomes.
Christy provides women with the support they need to heal, adjust and manage the transition of motherhood. She strives to educate and empower women and families during the magical time of pregnancy, birth and postpartum. For more information and a consultation please contact her.
